Partners
Integral to SDG philosophy and operations is collaboration with a wide range of partners in order to achieve economic growth and development impact in Africa. SDG will build on strategic relationships to add value to investee FIs and to realize sustainable impact on financial inclusion, SME development and affordable housing. Learn more about How We Work.
- We recruit high calibre professionals with extensive banking experience in Africa to build strong local management teams and boards.
- We draw on technical experts to build FI capacity in product development, strategic use of ICT, human resource and systems development, marketing, branding, transformation of corporate culture and governance strengthening.
- We also link our investee banks to SME support agencies to strengthen their underlying client base of SMEs who may require business development services, linkages to market information, mentoring opportunities and access to other forms of finance.
- We work with international financial institutions to help our investees secure short and long-term debt funding, debt guarantees, and other risk mitigation instruments (e.g. currency hedging).
- We partner with telecommunications and technology companies so that unbanked markets can be reached with innovative services through alternative distribution channels.
- Because the absence of available housing stock is a major barrier to the development of housing finance markets, we partner with low and middle income housing developers and other NGOs to create homes for investee housing finance clients.
We welcome expanding our base of partners and invite you to contact us if you believe there is an opportunity for us to work together.
Below are some of the partners SDG is working with.

By assessing an entrepreneur's fundamental intellectual and psychological characteristics, EFL is able to predict credit risk and upside potential of entrepreneurs with the same accuracy as traditional credit scoring models, but without requiring any credit history or collateral. The EFL tool is statistically validated and makes a large portfolio of small SME bank loans economically viable. EFL has worked in Latin America (Peru, Colombia, Chile) and Africa (South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Ghana). The cross-country results are remarkably consistent, showing that this is truly a global solution that requires only minor customization for new regions. In brief EFL has created an automated, scalable, and proven psychometric risk measurement tool for SMEs.
